To protect the sector and make us all the best we can be, we need to complete regular CPD. But knowing where to do this, at an affordable rate, can be a challenge.
When it comes to your development, don’t just sign up to whatever shiny new training course offer lands in your inbox. Focus on what you actually need. Think about what your role needs now that you’re not so confident on, what it might need for the future (lots of chats online about the future of work, the future of the careers sector and other ‘hot topics’ like AI), and what your own personal career hopes and dreams are. Doing this will help you avoid costly mistakes doing CPD you don’t need, and focus on the things you do.
We are just working on a CPD planning document which we’ll share with you soon. And if you’re working in a school and want to tie your CPD in with events happening, then this resource or this calendar may help. And if you’re looking to support your students in year 11 – 13 with their own CPD, subscribe for updates as we’ll also have a resource on this very soon! You could also take a look at the CDI’s Career Development Framework which shows the skills and behaviours any learner will need for a successful career.
Career Path Framework
We’re also working on a sector-wide framework to help you map out a career path, showing the levels of roles across the sector, the qualifications and skills you’ll need for each and how they relate to each other. We’ll share this soon and if you’d like to input into this and want to know more then please get in touch.
